Wider Impact has been commissioned by Staffordshire County Council’s Culture and Libraries Division to project manage an innovative pilot, which aims to increase young peoples’ use of local libraries.  The commisison has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

We are working in close partnership with the Culture and Libraries Division (CLD) and Norton Canes High School to recruit and train a number of Youth Advocates, who will be directing and advising our work.

Wider Impact Director, Edwin Lewis says, ‘This is an exciting project, as we are working closely with young people, who will be advising us how best to connect with their peers and help them to make a real difference in their local community. At the moment it seems that it is not good for young peoples’ image if they are seen to use their library. That should not be the case, and we are looking forward to working with them to put that right.  We will be producing a report, which will include a number of recommedations to the CLD.
